Phuket Activities

Phuket activities are remarkable! In the water, on shore, or even above it, a wide range of sports, tours, diversions and adventures guarantee a fun-packed holiday for all.

Phuket activities include: elephant trekking, golf, mini golf, rock climbing, horseback riding, mountain biking, jeep safari, Muay Tai boxing, scuba diving, sailing and all kind of other water sports.

In the water or out, the Andaman Sea and Phangnga Bay offer an unrivalled selection of water sports, including deep-sea fishing that would give Hemingway a thrill, and snorkelling and Scuba diving that would take Cousteau’s breath away.

There is also sea-canoeing into spectacular hollow island escarpments and enchanting yachting experiences that have not only made these waters world famous, but also helped make Phuket one of Asia’s premier yachting destinations, with yachts from every continent represented in the bays and marinas of the island.

Looking for more adventures activities in Phuket? Than why not choose elephant trekking and seeing the grace, dexterity and “personality” of this giant pachyderm up close is an experience that is not soon forgotten. There are many elephant trekking to choose from in the hills above Kata, Patong, Chalong and dotted around the island.

Phuket has three horseback riding centers. Ride along blue lagoons, marshland fields and large groves of conifer trees and of course white, sandy beaches.

But there is so much more! Hike through the primordial forest of Khao Phra Tieow, or go mountain biking. Mountain bike along the winding hill roads. Play 18, 36 or 72 holes of golf at any of the four world-class golf clubs.

Phuket has four fine golf courses, all of which have been designed to take full advantage of the island’s tropical trees and abundant water.

Not ready for the big game yet go to mini-golf park in Kata. Take a leap of faith at the island’s Bungy Jump centre or – if speed is your thing – roar around Phuket’s Go-Kart track.

Just a few hours away from Phuket are some of the most challenging and beautiful rock climbing sites in the world, attracting both novice and hard core climbers. Most of the action is on the towering limestone rocks in the headland between Tham Phra Nang (Phra Nang Cave Beach) and Railay East beach in Krabi.

Want to see local fish without getting wet? Then head over to Phuket Aquarium at Cape Panwa on the island’s southeast coast. Check out more than 100 species of fish. Open daily from 08.30 to 16.00.

Muay Thai, the ancient combat technique formerly used on Thai battlefields, is an exciting and challenging sport. A couple of gyms offer instruction in the martial arts form under the guidance of former Thai kickboxing champions.

Many Phuket activities can be enjoyed by both adults and children – e.g.., local jeep safari tours, horseback riding and snorkelling trips, ten pin bowling, water skiing and mini golf. Kids, especially the older ones, will enjoy many of the local jeep safari tours. Phuket is a great place to learn a new skill, especially in the water. Children over 12, can take a PADI scuba diving course and learn to dive in Phuket’s 28C warm water.

Dulwich International College runs a summer school for about 2 weeks every year in July with sports activities and training, games, artand crafts.
